Challenged Athletes Foundation
Kids Fun Run - San Diego, 2006
HI! My name is Brendan Driscoll. I am 11 years old and I am just back in action after breaking my leg skiing this past March. I love to RUN! When people ask me why I run, I tell them "Because it is something I thought I could not do". Born with a left leg that had to be amputated at the knee when I was five, I always dreamed of being able to run as fast as other kids. The CAF helped my dream come true. Through the generosity of the CAF I received an OSSUR Flex-Run Prosthesis. I have been running ever since. This is the best thing that ever happened to me!
The Challenged Athletes Foundation has changed my life forever! In 2006 they invited me to attend the San Diego Triathlon Challenge. I did not know what a Triathlon was. The people I met at this half-Iron man distance TRIATHLON in La Jolla, California inspired me to become a triathlete.
I have visited 10 states, competing in triathlons, track meets and swim meets. The amazing CAF athletes I have met motivate me to exercise everyday and dream big. I want to help the CAF get more physically challenged kids to the starting line.
CAF’s mission is clear: give those with the desire to live active, competitive lifestyles every opportunity to compete in the sports they love.
I am currently training for the Witch City Youth Triathlon in Salem, MA. on August 1 and the IRONKIDS National Championships in Tucson, AZ on October 4, 2009.
My motivation now is to get more kids participating in these events. Please help me to help the next kid. There are other kids and adults that need running prosthetics, wheelchairs, hand cycles and mentorship. By making a donation towards my Race for a Reason fundraising goal you will directly help a challenged athlete get the equipment and training needed to get to the starting line.
Thank-you for your support!
Thank you for your donation!
Sincerely,
Brendan Driscoll and family
