Challenged Athletes Foundation
Operation Rebound Spokesman - Maj. David M. Rozelle
Major Rozelle is a below-knee amputee and an inspirational icon for American soldiers injured in the conflicts abroad. While commanding 140 troops in Iraq, he lost part of his right leg when a land mine exploded under his Humvee. After completing his rehabilitation, he made the decision to return to active duty - the first American solder to do so in modern times on a prosthetic leg. He has become a spokesman for Operation Rebound, helping his fellow injured soldiers reclaim active lifestyles.
The Challenged Athletes Foundation raises money to help people with physical disabilites pursue an active lifestyle through physical fitness and athletics. CAF’s mission is clear: give those with the desire to live active, competitive lifestyles every opportunity to compete in the sports they love.
Operation Rebound is a wonderful CAF program that provides post-rehabilitation support and mentoring to American soldiers and veterans whose service to their country in Iraq and Afghanistan resulted in permanent physical injuries. Operation Rebound provides the next step in their recovery once they master “the basics” needed to return to an active lifestyle. To view an excellent, short video about Operation Rebound, visit: www.ampgraphics.us/ChallengedAthletesVideo.htm
My husband, Geoff, and I will be joining Maj. Rozelle in participating in the Ford Ironman 70.3-Florida Triathlon in Orlando this May. I am currently training for the 1.2mile swim, 56mile bike and 13.1mile run while also trying to raise funds to assist with Operation Rebound. Your gift will help our injured servicemen and women returning from the Middle East. By making even just a small donation towards my fundraising goal, you will directly help a challenged serviceman in need. They have given so much of themselves for us, now it is time for us, even in a small way, to return the favor.
Thank you for your donation, please SPREAD THE WORD to others you know and God Bless!!
